Oakland Paratransit for Elderly and Disabled (OPED)

Oakland Paratransit for Elderly and Disabled (OPED) is a supplemental paratransit program designed to assist frail individuals and people with disabilities with their transportation needs. OPED offers a door-to-door subsidized transportation service to eligible program participants who cannot access public transportation, providing them with the availability of taxicab or wheelchair van service to their medical appointments, shopping trips, and daily excursions.

For 26 years, this program has been providing paratransit service to Oakland and Piedmont residents who are elderly or have disabilities. OPED receives the majority of its funding from Alameda County Sales Tax Measure B. About 50,000 one-way rides are provided annually to OPED's 1,700 plus program participants. For more information on the Countywide paratransit program funded Measure see www.accessalameda.org.
